Wisely Tax
Wisely Tax provide turnkey tax and financial services. Their site was built in a hosting provider's proprietary website builder — a tool that produces no files you can take with you. We captured the live site as a complete static build and moved it onto managed hosting the business controls.
The Challenge
Proprietary site builders are comfortable right up to the moment you want to leave. There is no export, no source files and no database to migrate — the site exists only as something that provider's platform renders. Cancelling the account deletes the website, which means the business does not really own the thing its clients are looking at.
Our Solution
We captured the rendered site directly — every page, stylesheet, script and image as served — and reassembled it as a self-contained static build with its internal links rewritten to work standalone. The result is ordinary HTML, CSS and images: no builder, no licence and no platform dependency. That build was committed to a private repository, so the site now has real version history for the first time.
The Results
The business owns its website as files it can host anywhere, and the static build loads faster than the builder-rendered original. The provider lock-in is gone, and so is the risk of the site disappearing along with a cancelled subscription.
